We launched our Fish2Water Swimming Lessons in 2003 with the aim of providing high-quality swimming lessons in small classes, operating at a ratio of 6:1 in a friendly, family-focused atmosphere for the maximum development of all children. We offer free taster sessions so you can bring your child along to trial a lesson before signing up for weekly classes.

Our 30-minute swimming lessons run weekly, providing a consistent and regular lesson with the same teachers each week. Children will develop water confidence and safety awareness as they progress on their Fish2Water Swimming journey. Our swimming lessons follow the Swim England awards scheme and allows children to achieve and collect badges and certificates along the way. We run from two venues in Bedfordshire, Bedford Girls School Pool and St Johns Pool in Kempston. 

Fish2Water Swimming begins in our Parent & Baby Starfish classes. Children can then attend independent lessons from the age of 3 with our Tiddler classes. Parents watch closely on poolside and we have a teacher and an assistant in the water in our beginners classes.

Children graduate from Fish2Water Swimming when they have completed all elements of our highest level class, Sharks.

You can book onto our lessons by calling our office on 01234 340782 and our office team can provide you with our availability and process your booking. If you would like to let us know a suitable time to contact you, we can add this to our telephone appointments schedule.

Children are able to book onto our lessons at any point, we offer immediate start dates.

Once you are booked onto lessons you will receive an email confirmation which includes the terms and conditions and lesson locations. You will also receive an email from our online system with a link to our HomePortal with your child’s individual log in details so you can track their progress from home.
We operate with a maximum ratio of 6 children to one teacher; Starfish lessons operate with 8 parent and child customers to one teacher.

Our Tiddler and Tadpoles classes also have an assistant in the pool.

Lifetime Membership is available for a one-off cost of £25.00 per child, which reduces the term fees by 10%. This also applied to birthday parties and holiday camps.

All Teachers are either ASA (Amateur Swimming Association) or STA (Swimming Teachers Association) qualified. Assistant will have internal training.

All staff hold an up to date DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check certificate.

Please come with a towel, costume/trunks, hair tied back, hat (compulsory at Bedford Girls School), goggles (optional), swimming nappy (Starfish).

From the changing rooms, we ask that parents register with the poolside Project Lead who will be able to direct you to your child’s lesson location.

We ask that whilst waiting for their lesson children remain with their parent/guardian.
