Holiday Activity & Food programme

Offering eligible children, young people and families a wide range of exciting opportunity and support throughout the 2021 school Easter holidays and beyond.

We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Bedford Borough Council to support the delivery of the Holiday Activity & Food programme in Bedford. The project will support free of charge funded access for children in receipt of free school meals to access some brilliant provision to help children get active throughout Easter.

Every effort will be made to accommodate children and young people with Special Educational Needs at this active play scheme, however there may be some accessibility challenges for some children in accessing this provision. An accessibility assessment may be carried out where a child’s SEND needs indicate that additional support is required. If you are looking for the SEND Specific sessions and activities you can view these by clicking here

BOOK IN 3 easy steps

If your child has SEND/disabilities please CLICK HERE to fill out the enquiry form and we will then contact you to go through an accessibility assessment to ensure the provision will be suitable.

To support the fair access to funding all children are limited to a maximum of 6 Free half day sessions. Bookings will be checked by our team and any additional sessions booked will be chargeable at £25 per session.

Venue: Castle Newnham School (north site), Polhill Avenue, Bedford, MK41 9DT.

At SSG we will be delivering a superb programme of active care provision with activities including Wacky Crafts, Active Adventure, Dream Team & Construction Capers, Olympic Sports Days, Mission Survival Days and much much more!

Children aged between 5 years and 16 years who are eligible for Free School meals are invited to attend our sessions

As part of the Holiday Activity & Food Programme funding any child that is staying for both the morning and the afternoon session will be provided with a healthy packed lunch and snack. All food will be supplied by our delivery partner Caterlink and will comply with School Food Standards criteria. We will cater for allergies that should be onted at the point of booking. For children only staying for the morning or afternoon session they will need to bring their own snack should they want one.

No. Each venue will have a Project Leader who will be trained in child protection and will have passed an Enhanced Disclosure DBS check. We will take your contact details upon booking to ensure we can reach you should a problem arise.

Please tell us anything we need to know about your child’s health or needs when you make your booking e.g. diabetes, epilepsy, serious allergies, SEND and so on. In some cases we may need to send you some more forms and get additional information from you about your child’s needs. The more you share with us, the better care we can take of your child.

Please note this on your booking form so we can contact you to discuss this further.

Access to this scheme is free of charge for those children and young people receiving Free School Meals.

The system is very flexible and (subject to availability) you can book for individual sessions or for the whole week.

For physical activity sessions, comfortable footwear and clothing suitable for moving easily should be worn. Layers are always a good idea eg T-shirt, jumper, thin coat, shorts/trousers and trainers

We advise not wearing new or valuable clothing for art and craft activities as these may become stained or marked.

If we are blessed with some Easter sun, please apply sunscreen before they arrive to their session.
