SSG Activities Blog – July 2021

We had such a busy Easter here at SSG, delivering fun activities to hundreds of children across the region. Our enthusiastic staffing team moved around various venues over the Easter holidays. Here’s a few highlights for you…

Activity Days

For the Activities department at SSG, June was all about Activity Days! We have had a really busy few weeks, going into dozens of schools to deliver action-packed events for children aged from 5 to 16. The team has worked incredibly hard, led on the ground by the wonderful Beth Tomlin & Luke Lipski, to ensure everyone has stayed safe while having fun, trying new things & learning new skills.

We have seen hundreds of children enjoying a variety of different activity days, delivering activities to all ages, from year 1 students enjoying an end of term treat, all the way through to year 11 students attending their year 12 induction days. For many year 6 children, this was also a wonderful way to say goodbye to their Primary school when so many of the usual residential trips have had to be cancelled this year.

Our activity days are always tailored to meet the needs of the individual school, tailored around the timings of the school day. We cater for a group of 15 on each piece of equipment so everybody gets a good opportunity to use it, so many schools decide on a rota system allowing students the chance to move around a circuit of different activities during the day or even over several days in some cases. We run in all weathers, be it a rainy day or a heatwave, SSG have a reputation for reliability, safety & enthusiasm!

We’d love to share with you some of the different themed days & a selection of photos from the past few weeks:

High & Mighty!

This day uses some of our most impressive & popular equipment, including Cliff the Climbing Wall, our huge inflatable obstacle course, The Terminator & low ropes. During the day, the staff engage the children in meaningful play on the equipment, encouraging light competition, team work & lots of high energy activity.

Hot Shots!

As the name suggests, this day involves putting your target hitting skills to the test, with a variety of archery & archery tag games, as well as our ever popular slingshots. This really does suit all ages & abilities.

Matrix!

This is the ultimate team building day! Teams complete a series of challenges & tasks to move along the matrix board. They could be up against anything from Spiders Web & Toxic Waste, to Nightline & Blind Build. No two days are ever quite the same & the skills & memories gained will last a lifetime.

Ultimate Adventure!

Incorporating a combination of team building activities from our Matrix day, archery from our Hot Shots day & introducing our fabulous inflatable obstacle course, Danger Run, this is the ultimate mix of activities.

It has been such a privilege to be invited into so many schools & we have been overwhelmed with the positive feedback we have received from staff & students.
