The Testimonials

Candidate completed a Business Admin Course October 2024
"Great support by all tutors in SSG but the most amazing support I received was from Tim, Tori, the sports staff, my first business teacher, Matthew and Emma. I have severe Tourettes syndrome which they supported me with. The course helped me with knowing how a business works and how to identify problems."
Candidate completed a Step Into Work CourseOctober 2024
"I am very satisfied with the support provided by my Tutor, Joanna, and the course Mentor, Balve. Before each main tutor session, we had a Mentor session with Balve, during which we could ask questions related to coursework or seek general support for the course. Both Joanna and Balve were very supportive. I felt comfortable reaching out to either of them, whether during the sessions or via email or Google Classroom outside of the sessions. Additionally, both Joanna and Balve offered one-on-one Teams meetings for individual support for the course if required. While I personally didn’t need individual support during the course, it was reassuring to know that it was available. I felt respected, valued and treated fairly by my tutor Joanna and mentor Balve. For example, during the course, when I asked questions - both in the mentor session and the main tutor session - Joanna / Balve listened fully to my questions and provided clear explanations in a respectful manner, without ever making me feel silly for asking. This made me feel respected and valued, and I felt comfortable asking (and answering) questions, without worrying if they might sound like 'stupid' questions. This course gave me lots of valuable information about job searching and application, and effective interview techniques, with this knowledge I now feel more confident applying for jobs. As part of the course, we had to create a CV and cover letter, tailoring it to a specific job description. I chose to tailor mine for a job which I found advertised on Indeed, I then applied for the job using the CV & cover letter that I had created, which resulted in me securing an interview with the employer. Along with the information I have learnt during this course, interacting with the tutor, mentor and fellow students during the course has increased my overall confidence levels. Also, having the routine of the daily sessions has helped me with my time management skills.
Candidate completed a Wellbeing4Work Course October 2024
"I feel the support was fantastic every step of the way. Jeremy (the tutor) not only was extremely respectful but so empathetic and understanding. With so much insight! I felt so comfortable sharing my own experiences and insights and felt really heard and valued. This course and Jeremy’s help has made me really understand how the brain jeopardises our daily life and I can honestly say learning coping mechanisms and exercises from this course is helping me no end daily! And helping me with my son too! Bite size amounts of the work packs done at a time was really helpful and I didn’t get too overwhelmed. I feel the entire course run so smoothly and I enjoyed every session I can’t quite believe it’s been 9 weeks and it’s finished! I wish to carry on learning about mental health and wellbeing I plan to enrol on a course after Christmas to get a level 3 and train to be a mental health nurse. I would like to just take a moment to express how amazing Jeremy is as a tutor on this course. He made us all feel at ease he took it at the paces we all needed and really made the whole course enjoyable and informative at the same time. I have thoroughly enjoyed every session and can’t wait to help others learn these healthier ways of coping in the future. So a huge thank you to Jeremy and all of you at SSG for allowing me to enrol on this course."
Candidate completed a Step into Self Employment Course October 2024
"My experience of this course was exceptional. Mike and Balve were so passionate and engaging. I found the structure of the course was everything that I needed in terms of the modules required to succeed in self employment and the openness showed to support me personally, and my fellow attendees, that enabled me to understand different perspectives when building my business plan. Personally, I was overwhelmed with the knowledge and experience that Mike shared. This gave me the confidence to do something that at 63 years I would never have considered starting a business when all my working life has been supporting customers working directly for companies. It was also great how Mike and Balve brought me closer to seeking support from my fellow attendees challenges that helped me reflect on my own priorities. If I had one learning that has sustained me personally it was “Eat the Frog”."
