Awards!
We want to wish a massive congratulations to all the winners of the Bedford Independent Everyday Heroes Awards. The list of nominees was so inspiring; Bedford clearly has some amazing businesses & individuals.
We were so proud that our very own Cheyenne Circuitt was Highly Commended in the Young Achiever Award. She deserves this so much & we know she will continue to succeed on her chosen path because of her hard work & determination.
SSG Together Vision
The SSG Together Vision is an initiative focusing on wellbeing, acceptance & inclusion. Until now this has been an internal company initiative but we are excited to now be extending it to include our family, friends & linked partners. We are really pleased to announce that we have launched the SSG Together Vision YouTube channel. We will post the bi-weekly updates via this channel for you to watch. This will include Micky Mill’s Fitness Frenzy, Wellbeing Wednesday highlights, competition information (this month… who will get the most steps?!) & lots more.

Every Wednesday on our social media pages, we add a little reminder to do something that enhances your wellbeing. Make sure you follow us to get regular updates on this & lots of other things we are doing. Events coming soon include deaf awareness, autism awareness & transgender awareness.
Academies
Our EQUAL Academies are designed to provide industry-specific qualifications & skills in three business sectors: Warehouse; Business & Health & Social Care. They are highly adaptable for individuals as the programme is delivered virtually, although everyone is also assigned a dedicated tutor to help guide them through the process. With our wealth of information, outside speakers, experienced tutors & easy to follow online platform, this is the perfect way to enter your chosen industry. Using the academy as a starting point, our candidates will be given information, advice & guidance for their next steps, whether that may be employment, another programme at SSG, an apprenticeship or even university.
We have had 36 candidates across 3 academies so far, with over 95% attendance at time of writing. Here is some recent feedback from some of our candidates:

The current programmes are just ending & new ones starting so feel free to get in touch if this would be of interest to you. We also always love to hear from potential employers who might be interested in speaking to our candidates about their industry, have potential job vacancies available or want to get involved in some other way.
Kickstart
Last month we introduced you to Christina in our ‘Meet the Team’ section. Well, she’s back in the blog & we are so pleased to report she successfully interviewed for a paid position here at SSG & is now working as our newest IAG (Info, Advice & Guidance) & Enrolment Officer. This is what she had to say…
This position was made possible thanks to a government led initiative called Kickstart, intended to help 16-24 year olds in receipt of universal credit to get a step on the employment ladder. There are dozens of Kickstart vacancies in businesses across Bedfordshire & the team at SSG are excited to offer a ‘pre-placement programme’ designed to prepare suitable candidates to find & apply for these positions. These positions are short term vacancies, possibly leading to more permanent jobs within the chosen business or industry. SSG are currently running the short pre-placement programmes every 3 weeks so are in a great position to help as many people as possible find the right role for them.
Sector-based Work Academy Programmes
Last month we mentioned the success of one of our SWAPs. We continue to deliver bespoke SWAP programmes for specific roles & were pleased to receive the following feedback recently:
“SSG have supported DWP with our recent recruitment campaign for work coaches. They have been running a number of SWAPs supporting our claimants with the long recruitment process. With their flexible approach and delivery SSG always offer a professional and supportive service to both partners and claimants alike and with their hard work and commitment have achieved some fantastic results.
