SSG Education & Training Blog – February 2022

Welcome to our April blog! We have so much happening in the Education & Training dept at SSG so here’s just a few highlights. Don’t forget to follow our social media for up to date information & announcements!

We have had a very busy start to the new year, with all our 16-18 courses back up & running after the Christmas break, as well as lots of other courses helping people get back into work.

Business partnership

The SSG business partnership continues to go from strength to strength. This month we would like to do a shoutout to Jobs 22 and Speakers for schools, two of our amazing new partners. Both will have a huge impact on our candidates’ experiences. If you want to check out their amazing work, head to their websites: https://jobs-22.co.uk/ & https://www.speakersforschools.org/ .

We regularly hold Business Partnership events at our training centre in Bedford. We work in partnership with the DWP to hold jobs fairs, ideal for recruitment & awareness. If you would like more information about the next one or how to book a FREE space for your business to attend and meet new talent, please contact our Head of Partnerships: Lisa.nixon@ssgservices.co.uk .

Step Into…

…Work for parents!

A new incentive has been developed with our job centres across Hertfordshire to support unemployed parents with seeking flexible work. Our training programme in January got underway with lots of practical learning which met the needs of the participants whilst also accommodating childcare considerations. This first course has already been met with fabulous feedback & we look forward to running this regularly!

Step Into…

…Self employment!

Have a look at this link for a really clear overview of our Step Into Self Employment programme, including success stories!  CLICK HERE: to discover Step-into Self-Employment .

This programme continues to go from strength to strength & we look forward to helping many more people on the path towards their goals.

Hello!

Welcome to some new faces in the department:

Jamie

Jamie Seymour – Tutor

Martyna

Martyna Frak – Learning Support Assistant

Benn

Benn Jaconelli – Business Support

Here at SSG, we are always looking to expand our team of enthusiastic individuals. You don’t need to have years of experience, just the right personality to inspire & support people. If you or somebody you know is looking for work, look for our recruitment page & get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.

SWAP…

Our Sector-based Work Academy Programmes continue to go from strength to strength, with new employers getting involved all the time. In the past few months, we have worked with Ralph Lauren, McGinnleys rail track maintenance, Smyths Toys & Sky. These 3 week courses prepare candidates for roles within these companies, offering employability & interview training, as well as training for specific roles.

By recruiting through a SWAP, employers can streamline their recruitment process while also receiving financial incentives to take on new staff. For candidates looking for a job, this is an excellent way of preparing to enter the world of work, with guidance for each step of the recruitment process & valuable advice & training for the role they are applying for. We have such an impressive rate of progression from these programmes & we also offer ongoing support to candidates who need to repeat the process or be signposted to alternative courses.
